A selection of our former staff enjoying the whisky tasting and talk given by Rory Souter from the Whisky Society. We even had whisky cake, courtesy of Auria, to add to the enjoyment!
Fittingly, it was an educational as well as enjoyable event, held in the Upper Apex cafe at Merchiston. Star of the show, undoubtedly, was Richard Honour, former head of Publishing and Printing. His appearances at events have been sparser of late, due to the difficulty of negotiating his wheelchair. But the venue was completely accessible, and he was able to meet friends and colleagues again.
Rory coped admirably with questions from the audience, blending knowledge with wit and humour. There were requests for a follow up, so please, if you’d like to pitch in with ideas or information, just contact one of us.
Visit our Facebook page here to see more pictures from the event.
It is with sadness that we announce the death of Frederick Frayling- Kelly who was a lecturer in the Department of Music. Frederick passed away on 22 December last year. He will be remembered for developing the talent of many young musicians and will be sadly missed.
Who doesn’t like tasting a good whisky, or enjoying some freshly baked home-made cake? Or learning a bit more about whisky itself? In a nice setting where you can meet up again with former or current staff? There will be a whisky cake and a dairy-free gluten-free cake, and we will provide a non-alcoholic drink for those who are driving or not keen on the whisky tasting.
All of these are available for free if you are a current or former member of university staff and sign up for this event on 23 March, 2.30 pm. It will be held in the upper Apex at Merchiston, which is the upper part of the Apex cafe. You can get directions from reception if you are unfamiliar with the site.
You can sign up by contacting Fran Anderson. Email email@example.com, text 07800740366 or give her a phone. She can answer any questions you have as well, or refer you to more knowledgable colleagues!

We would like to hear from you, and you can contact us in a number of ways. You can leave a comment here, email one of the committee, or interact with us on Facebook.
